For me, Nobuhiko Obayashi, the director of "Tenkousei", is magician of movies. Whenever I see his movies my mind gets thinking "Now that's a movie technique! That's a location where movies should be taken! That’s the pace movies should proceed in! ". In other words, they remind me of how movies should be taken. Although a movie is technically a box with records of the past, a gifted director like Obayashi records a “memory” inside the audience’s mind using this box. I can't imagine how students living in 2,112 will react when they see Obayashi's magic. Intriguing question this is no doubt. I chose this movie in hope that it will become more attractive in 2,112.

"Tenkousei" is a movie which made Obayashi famous in 1982. And, it’s also the first movie of "Onomichi trilogy" and "New Onomichi trilogy" series. This being the case I thought it would be suitable for students in 2,112 to watch the Obayashi's movie first as an introduction. "Onomichi trilogy" is named after a port town called Onomichi situated in Japan’s Chugoku region where Obayashi was born. This town is famous for its sloping roads and temples making it a perfect location for movies.

Yasujiro Ozu's famous movie, "Tokyo story" was also taken in Onomichi. As if inspired by his and Obayashi's works, many animation and game creators followed them and used the setting in this town. Therefore, Onomichi is an attractive town for creators.

2. Get off the Onomichi station

・Trains are the best way for tourists who comes from afar.

3. Check around sloping roads and temples in early morning.

・Many movie locations like temples in "Tenkousei" and "Toki wo kakeru shoujyo" are built in a high place.

4. Go to cafe Komon if you want to relax.

・This cafe is famous as "Tenkousei" and the other Onomichi movies.

・Try out the good tasting hotcakes. I hope that this café will still be there 100 years later.

5. Use the ropeway.

・Rope way station is near the cafe Komon.

・This ropeway is as famous as "Tenkousei".

6. Rent a bicycle

・Rental place is near the train station.

7. Check around the bayside area using a bicycle

・Shopping street and movie museum is near the bayside.

・Places like "Tencousei"'s last scene and hero's home are far from Onomichi station so let's use a bicycle to get there.

・You can re-act the "Tenkousei"'s crossing over bridge scene with bicycle. I advise thought that this is dangerous for other locals and your self included. Please be careful.

8. Ride a ship to the Mukoujima-island on a bicycle.

・This ship is famous in all of Obayashi's Onomichi movies.

・Bicycle is useful for checking around Mukoujima's movie spot.
